An Adaptive Training Center unique in Québec

A spinal cord injury occurs at the least expected moment.
No one is fully sheltered from this type of injury.

In February 2022, our Adaptive Training Center opened its doors in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

Here are a few testimonials demonstrating the effectiveness of this new approach that seeks to greatly enhance the life quality of people living with spinal cord injuries.
In October, thanks to the results obtained since te opening and the continued support of our donors and sponsors, we were able to add the cerebral palsy children's program for to our services.

Here is a 46 second video clip of testimonials from parents whose children are benefiting from the program offered by the Regina and Winnipeg FSWC centers.  This same program is now available to Quebec families!
Jessica's Testimony for William, our first client in Québec
William spent 4 weeks at FSWC Quebec. He made gains in core tone mainly and also in the use of his right upper limb, which he seems to have a better awareness of. What I have also noticed is that his confidence in his abilities has increased. He is trying out some movements more on his own and initiating some activities on his own instead of having the adult do it for him. Thank you to the whole team for this beautiful 4 weeks, your approach through play has allowed my son to enjoy these 3 hours of therapy per day. You love children and this is reflected in your interventions. For us parents of children with disabilities, the lack of daily engagement of our commies is a problem, and this 4 week therapy block makes a difference. In an ideal world, these daily workouts would be the norm! Thank you for everything and I hope to see you soon.

Jessica , mom of 8 year old William Girard

Our motto : Recognize potential, not limits!!!

Québec Adapted Training Centre FSWC

Who are we?
Based in Sherbrooke, the Québec adapted training centre FSWC (operating under FSWC Québec), is a new, charitable organization that was created in order to respond to the urgent needs of spinal cord injured individuals.

We offer programs that helps increasing the mobility, the independence as well as mental and physical health of spinal cord injured individuals and the people living with other neurological conditions.

Why are we a charitable organization?

Because we aim to offer individuals living with spinal cord injuries a program at the lowest possible cost, considering the following facts:
  • the need for them to follow their exercise-program intensively in order to gain back as much movement as possible,
  • the amount of time (which is often a number of months) for neuroplasticity to take effect and
  • the fact that many of the spinal cord injured carry a financial burden, having to assume various extra expenses related to their new living conditions.

A call for financial help

The funds received will more specifically help us to:
  • support these people to take advantage of our programs by reducing our actual service costs,
  • purchase specialized equipment,
  • expand the team of therapists.

Why should I support FSWC Quebec:
  • Thanks to your donations, FSWC Quebec will be able to serve more people with neurological conditions, both adults and children.
  • FSWC Quebec is the only charitable organization in the province that can provide this type of service, based on a well-proven method ongoing for more than 10 years.

We wish for you to join us!

How could you, as a business, support us?

1) Financial support by donation: (we accept Interac transfers at dons@fswcquebec.ca and cheques made to FSWC Québec, 360 rue Galt Est, local 103, Sherbrooke, Québec, J1G1X9)

2) Sponsoring

3) Enticing your employees, your suppliers and your clients to:
  • establish a program in which an employer would match (or more), the financial donation of its employee,
  • have employees organize fundraisers,
  • inform our fundraising campaign in your offices, among your suppliers etc.

Our way of seeing things needs to change

Not only would your contribution help us in offering these programs to the people with neurological conditions among us, but it also would have the following social impacts:
  • Lowering the yearly financial impacts on the Quebec (822 million dollars) and on the Federal (2.7 billion dollars) governments.
  • A change in the percepted recovery potential for the spinal cord injured.
  • The creation of fulfilling employment opportunities for kinesiologists.

Thank you so much for your generosity!
